FEBRUARY GREETINGS: Here are a couple of situations that should be in our prayers.
On January 23, Ford Motor Company announced extensive layoffs, putting thousands of Americans out of work. A couple of days earlier one TV station featured the booming mining of oil saturated sand in Alberta, Canada where workers are scarce, somewhat due to the bleak , frigid conditions there. No doubt some newly laid off workers will consider signing up for work in Alberta. Can you imagine the shock to a family with a home mortgage and the bills still coming in, and the breadwinner about to leave the country to find work, and to be gone for who knows how long? Talk about a situation that would drive a family to its knees!
Here is another scenario. Imagine living as a Maasai tribe Christian in Kenya, East Africa, and having cattle herding as your occupation, as is the usual historical custom of the Maasai’s. Any American cattleman will tell you that you have to have two things to raise cattle – pasture and WATER. Parts of Kenya are going through their annual drought period right now. Competition for water is not just among herdsmen. Our friend, Pastor Julius Lenkume of the Christian Sabbath- keeping and holy day-keeping Maasai Mission emailed us recently that a woman had gone to the river to find water early one morning in December, and had been torn to pieces by a lion. Would you like to compete with a lion for your water tomorrow morning? Earlier in 2005, Pastor Lenkume’s wife received a back injury when she slipped in the river bank mud while carrying 20 liters of water. You begin to get the picture that water is a dear commodity in Kenya at this time of year. I think the Maasai Christians may be on their knees to God about water on a regular basis.
Now I will share with you another email from Pastor Lenkume, unedited except for last sentence omitted.
” Dear pastor schneinder, christian greetings from kenya.we happy to informed you that work is moving like wildfire by God power and carried with those who love christ and ready to complished the last days work commission by christ to all his followers. On behalf of maasai mission ,i would like to thank all our friends in the gospel field with their solid spiritual support and fiscal they have been offering.Contunue to offer prayer on our behave so the spirit of the lord by rekidle our vision among our dear community within our reach.
Iam sad also to report the famine heated our land at moment, cousing great disastar almost country wide which have claimed allready number of soul of both human and livestock. All maasai tribe which icome from suffred lost of animals, just yesterday icall evangelist Obiki from Narok and told me is not at home the all day anight looking for water and pasture for his animals, which three have already died of hunger.Simon is abrother associating with maasai mission since the last year semptember. Most our churches reported least attedance last sabbath due to difficulties which facing most family. We would like to appeal from brethren all over to pray and if possible come into our support during this trategic period we facing at moment, many depend only animal product or crops for their basic needs, which totaly affected and no hope this time, the cone could have ready as from march 2006. This open letter is my intention to let our cry for help to reach any brother or sister in christ who have willing heart to attend our needs to help us,even the least donation can saved life.Any help can be sent to……
inchrist pastor Julius”

Well, you can see from the above that there are some Americans and some Africans who need our prayers. When we get our next paycheck and when we turn on the tap water in our homes, let’s not only be thankful, let’s be prayerful for others less fortunate.

Item: Answers delayed…. Life sustained….. God has His just reasons and a perfect plan in all He does. All my life prayers went up for my mother’s rare ailment. She was not healed while years and years went by and medical studies on her condition were gathered by research hospitals, one after another. It was a mystery why she continued to live while others having the same illness lived a few months or a few years…then passed away.
Yet, she had much faith, knowing God could heal her if He chose to, at the end of each prayer. 50 years later……Much study was given, using my mother as a guinea pig. Through it all God sustained her in life. The physicians were finally able to discover medically how to deal with the ailment in early stages, from the studies. Last year my mother went in to be tested to see how she is doing. My sister-in law, then administrative head of the hospital, and still sits on the board of directors, stated to me on the phone, ” There isn’t any sign of her ailment that can be found. If I didn’t know better, I would say she never had it.”
God didn’t keep Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the fire. Their faith, knowing that God can deliver, went with them into the fire. And that Living Word walked them right through it to sustain their lives in it, and delivered them out of it. He is our all.
Item: Hi, I just wanted to share a praise report with you all. I was out last night on errands. When I got ready to leave for home, my car wouldn’t start…there was total silence when I turned the key. Of course, I had immediately locked the doors when I got in, but when I tried to get out to go get help, I found myself locked in! The auto locks would not unlock without power…neither would the windows open or the horn blow…I was stuck! My mind started to imagine being left there all night and I began to get a little panicky.
It so happens, that a couple of young ladies parked near me came out to their car, so I tapped on the windshield of my car to get their attention, then shouted as loudly as I could that I couldn’t get the car started. One of them told me that they did not have jumper cables, but I asked them if they would go back inside and let someone know I needed help and ask if they would send security or something. They didn’t respond, but just drove away.
I started taking deep breaths to help me calm down and started praying, asking God to help me by giving me peace and wisdom to know what to do. Then one of the employees, a young man, came over to the car to see what was wrong (I guess the young ladies did notify someone). Anyway, he had me unlatch the hood. He jiggled the cables and got a connection so I was able to drive home safely.
That was scary! I never realized that there was even a remote possibility of my ever being locked inside my car. I’m so glad that God hears, cares, and never sleeps!
—Corroded battery posts and/or cables are a common cause of losing electrical power. It is also one of the easiest to prevent. Have a friend show you how to clean them, or have your garage mechanic take care of it annually. —Ed.

SAFETY TIPS FOR WOMEN — (From the Internet (with modifications), 1-10-06)
We can now add to the list of victims the retired 77 yr. old TCU professor in Ft Worth whose body was found last week in Oklahoma–and the 11 yr. old in Sarasota, FL. Because of these recent abductions in daylight hours, refresh yourself of these things to do in an emergency situation…This is for you, and for you to share with your wife, your children, everyone you know. After reading these 9 crucial tips, forward them to someone you care about. It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.
1. When in danger, pray audibly: “Father, please don’t let this happen to me.” ( I know of one young woman who was saved from being molested in her apartment doorway by humbly and fervently praying this prayer so that her “boyfriend” could hear it. The man backed off and apologized, realizing he was dealing with a Christian woman. —Ed.)
2. Learned this from a tourist guide in New Orleans. If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you….chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won’t see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.
4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. ). DON’T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE
5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
A.) Be aware: look around you, into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.
B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
C.) Look at the car parked on the driver’s side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)
6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!)
7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, Preferably ! in a zig -zag pattern!
8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP. It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked “for help” into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.
9. Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her, “Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.”
The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, “We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.” He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby’s cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they heard baby’s cries outside their doors when they’re home alone at night. This e-mail should be taken seriously because the Crying Baby theory was mentioned on America’s Most Wanted [TV program] this past Saturday when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana.

“THE LORD TOLD ME” Ariel Sharon’s stroke was not a function of his 77 years and 300 pound girth. At least that’s what one well-known preacher says. The obvious diagnosis holds no quarter when someone supposes he has direct pipeline to God’s workings in the affairs of men. Instead, or so we are supposed to believe, God is punishing Mr. Sharon for giving back land that is already occupied by people he is supposed to be giving it back to.
God certainly does give visions to prophets, but he also says to “believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world”
(1 John 4:1 KJV). It’s a serious thing to claim that “The Lord told me”, and anyone who says that had better be sure he’s right. Just because someone claims a personal message from God does not make it so.
Shortly after the Kingdom of Israel was divided, God sent a prophet to King Jeroboam of the Northern Kingdom. The prophet warned of destruction of Jeroboam’s high place. God gave the prophet specific instructions for his own conduct while delivering the prophecy: He was not to eat or drink a thing until he was out of the bounds of the kingdom. Even though the king invited him to stay, the prophet refused:
“If you were to give me half your house, I would not go in with you; nor would I eat bread nor drink water in this place. For so it was commanded me by the word of the LORD, saying, ‘You shall not eat bread, nor drink water, nor return by the same way you came.’
” (1 Kings 13:8-9 NKJV).
But he didn’t count on a deception from a fellow, older prophet: “I too am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the LORD, saying, ‘Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’ (He was lying to him.) So he went back with him, and ate bread in his house, and drank water.” (1 Kings 13:18-19 NKJV)
“The Lord told me .”, said the older prophet. The younger man took the words at face value, and it cost him his life. Just because someone says “The Lord told me .”, it doesn’t mean the Lord really did tellhim.
In Acts 10 we read about Peter and his reaction to a very real vision. He was praying when he fell into a trance, and he saw a sheet lowered from heaven containing all kinds of vermin and snakes and every foul living thing that God had created. “And there came a voice to him, “Rise, Peter, kill and eat” (verse 13). Here was a voice from God. Peter could honestly say, “The Lord told me .”, but unlike that young prophet, Peter’s reaction was tinged with a healthy dose of skepticism. “Not so, Lord, for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean” (verse 14).
Even though this vision was repeated three times, Peter did not immediately run out and start to eat roasted cockroaches and rodent’s hearts. Instead, he “doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean” (verse 17). Peter was wise enough not to jump to conclusions and go off half-cocked. It was not long before he learned the real meaning of the vision: “God has shown me that I should not call any MAN common or unclean” (verse 28).
Peter waited before inferring. Even in the face of a vision we need to hold it up to the light of God’s word before concluding what the message is. To do anything else does great damage to the Faith. Lenny Cacchio, Lee’s Summit, MO
NBC CANCELS PERVERTED TV PROGRAM, “BOOK OF DANIEL”
(The American Family Association’s (AFA) founder and chairman, Donald E. Wildman, sent out the following email on January 24, 2006. It shows that the petitions and letters of many concerned citizens do have an effect on the TV smut media. I believe that the prayers of many Christians also had a lot to do with getting this anti-Christian TV program off the air after only three weekly airings.. God hears our prayers and acts! —Ed.)
“NBC’s anti-Christian program “The Book of Daniel” has been cancelled! Your efforts, combined with those of hundreds of thousands of other AFA Online supporters, had an impact. “NBC’s decision to pull “The Book of Daniel” shows the power of the pocketbook. NBC didn’t want to eat their economic losses. Had NBC not had to eat millions of dollars each time it aired, NBC would have kept “The Book of Daniel” on the air. Because of your efforts, the sponsors dropped the program. NBC then decided it didn’t want to continue the fight.
“Even an impassioned plea by Daniel’s producer Jack Kenny could not match your participation. ‘Ordinarily, I would never ask anyone to do this, but the AFA and bullies like them are hard at work to try and prevent you from seeing these beautiful shows, and that is censorship-pure and simple. And that is both un-Christian and un-American,’ Kenny wrote. His attitude is typical in today’s society. Non-Christians telling Christians what is Christian.
“People like Kenny don’t want people like you to have a voice. They want to deny you the right to get involved. You are supposed to sit back and take the trash. And when you do speak up they call you names. This [program cancellation] shows us that we don’t have to simply sit back and take the trash, but we can get involved and fight back with our pocketbooks. I want to thank the 678,394 individuals who sent emails to NBC and the thousands who called and emailed their local affiliates. Thanks for caring enough to get involved! Sincerely, Don”
THE INSIDIOUS NATURE OF PORNOGRAPHY The following are excerpts from emails sent by
Bill Johnson, president of American Decency Association (ADA).
Jan 5, 2006 One central thing — Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. [I John 5:4,5] In Creation, God spoke our world into existence and made abundantly clear what is good. It is God that defines good and evil. Many, however, don’t acknowledge, God’s word as truth. These are wide-open to falsehood and delusion. “For the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” [Proverbs 7]
In this wicked day in which we are living, Western man propagates the idea that what is right for you may not be right for me. What is pornographic to me may be art to you. Man turns the absolutes of right and wrong on their head.
As America’s youth go off to godless schools and public schools of higher learning, is it any wonder that many that once went to church with their parents and saw the faith lived out by their parents, choose another direction upon going to secular colleges?
Western man propagates relativism, godlessness. Case in point: the latest television network attack upon truth – NBC’s “The Book of Daniel” [Lesbians, homosexuals, drug dealers, alcoholics and adulterers are all in the family…] As in the days of Noah, few walk by faith. “But without faith, it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” [Hebrews 11:6]
We are in a great spiritual warfare – a warfare for the very hearts and souls of our children. It is difficult if they have faith, but if they don’t they will be wide open to the attacks of the evil one that come relentlessly – bringing confusion, lies, seduction, darkness and ultimately death.
Jan 20, 2006 “It [porn] titillates and then is so easily rationalized. The rationalizing goes: ‘There is nothing wrong with looking at a little skin.’ The carnal mind permits pornography to be tolerated, accommodated to, and little by little becomes a part of a life style that carries with it desensitization, addiction, lust, destruction.”
Jan 10, 2006 I hear the reports, too, that high school cheerleading outfits and performances have been becoming increasingly risqué’. The line moves downward with each year. And people are afraid to speak out against it at every level for fear of being labeled a “prude,” “puritan,” “old-fashioned,” “against sex,” etc., etc.. So the voices protecting the innocence and purity of our children and families are largely and sadly silent. The salt has lost its savor at our athletic fields and gymnasiums.
And our society is living in denial giving the sense that there is nothing wrong with such lust producing calendars, half-time performances, skimpy dressed “dance teams”. The pornography industry rejoices over the increasing lack of resistance to lust producing innuendo and displays.
It is unhealthy, morally and spiritually, for us as individuals and families to have placed before ourselves lust producing things. It is inappropriate for sports teams to allow it at their sports arenas. Fathers and mothers should protest the erosion of modesty and stop attending their games. If they have no more regard for you and your family than to assault your moral sensibilities with lustful performances and scantily clad performers, than withdraw your support and let them know!
“FEAR NOT” FORUM TO MEET EVERY 4TH SABBATH OF THE MONTH
Raising children can be a fearful thing for families in our fast-changing culture. Fear of proven values fading out, fear of marital knots coming untied, fear of increasingly Godless education in our public schools, and fear of addictions and distractions of every stripe aimed at our impressionable children are a challenge to the traditional family, not to mention the swelling numbers of one-parent families.
Interactive meetings of a new community venture in learning family skills and values will be held at the new Morgan County Library on Highway 5 in Versailles, Missouri at 2:00pm every fourth Sunday beginning February 26, 2006. These open meetings will feature guest speakers to encourage group discussion on such subjects as home schooling, testing, teaching and improving the life of children with learning disabilities; food and herbs for better health; planting peace in the family; learning what makes our children think so differently from what we teach them (“trash in – trash out”); and other subjects to strengthen the family. It is hoped that the open sharing of personal success methods in these areas will be part and parcel of every meeting.
The first meeting on Sunday, February 26 at 2:00pm will include a Christian teacher that helps home schoolers, and information about some great school books that use bible scriptures in its lessons. For more information, call 573-372-3221.
