Here is a “buzz word” that gets thrown around by the old “New Age” movement and now by many in christian church organizations. It is intended to sound good and tickle your ear. I must admit, it’s a pleasant thought to have everyone love one another, everyone think the same, everyone’s attitude be the same, everyone’s god be the same god. I can feel good for a moment saying “unity in our belief” or “unity in our church organization”.
It reminds me of a politician trying to make points with potential constituents. Say things that sound good but are seriously lacking of substance. But what is this force of “unity” REALLY after? I fear there are more and more church organizations gravitating towards this “unity” in order to gain popularity, membership and… money. It’s no longer adequate to do the simple Gospel; spread the Gospel of His coming kingdom to the whole world. It is no longer adequate to follow God’s commandments. So we must “unite” with more popular teachings of the world, the Trinity, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Eastern Philosophies, Wiccan, Hindi, Muslim, Buddhist?
When they say “we must unite”, with whom are they looking to “unite” with? It has to do with another popular “buzz word” “tolerance”. Didn’t this happen in the 3rd century with the Nicene Creed or the Creed of Nicaea?
So where does this attitude of tolerance for the false teachings and willingness for unity come from? Not from Jesus the son of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Please show me where our Messiah was tolerant. Jesus, Yashua Ha’Mashiach. Not a false Jesus.
He said such things as “No man can come to the Father except by me”, and “I am the way” and “I am the door” and “I am the good shepherd”. He said that anybody trying to enter by any other means “will be treated as a thief and a robber, and cast into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
He said many other such controversial statements about himself, which is why the Jewish leaders wanted to stone him – for blasphemy!
Jesus told HIS enemies things like, “You are like white-washed grave sites – all nice and pretty on the outside, but full of worms and dead men’s bones within.” He called them all hypocrites.
In my opinion, this is exactly what the devil wants. In the name of unity, creating havoc. In the guise of tolerance, watering down truth. How much poison can you put into your glass of water before it wouldn’t be something you’d want to drink? In the same, how much lie does it take to make the truth a lie?
The devil disguises himself as an angel of light that he may deceive the very elect. He strives to weaken our resolve, that we would become tolerant and give in to false doctrine. Taking away our attention from our simple task of spreading the Gospel to the entire world no matter how “big” our church is.
This is not in conflict with God’s commandment of love. God’s commandments of Love covers everything. When we love our fellow man as ourselves and when we love God, we fulfill all the law. ALL THE LAW. The laws still exist. Furthermore, love is caring about truth, not wanting to deceive your fellow man. Caring about God enough to not tolerate things that are against Him. Peace be with you and yours… ~Shalom
