http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quartodeciman – Quartodeciman or “Fourteeners” was a condescending term use to ridicule and persecute (murder) early Christians (the first century Church) for holding dear to the truth about the crucifixion and resurrection of our Messiah.
It’s real simple. We claim to be Christians… why? Because we accept the covenant available through the shed blood of Jesus. We are in a contract. Contracts are made between two or more parties where obligations are defined and agreed to. Here is what Jesus says about this contract:
His end of the contract… John 14:14 (KJV) If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
Our end of the contract… John 14:15 (KJV) If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Yet many people (and some claiming to be Christian) assert that “God is love” and one of the popular clichés is to “just love the Lord.” The scriptures show differently. 1 John 5:2-4 (KJV) By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
The definition of love is best understood through our Messiah’s life and teachings: “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15); and, “He who has my commandments with him and keeps them, he is who loves me and he who loves me will be loved by my Father. And I will love him and reveal myself to him” (John 14:21); and, “If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept the commandments of my Father, and I abide in His love.” (John 15:10). Abiding in His love is clearly connected to “keeping the commandments.” The “commandments of my Father” always refers to Torah; and Jesus taught that “if you love” him, you will keep the Commandments.
There are dozens of places in Scripture where “love” is tied in with keeping the Commandments. Unfortunately, those Christians who truly “love the Lord” according to Scripture are labeled as Legalists and Judaizers for keeping the Commandments, and often encounter persecution from “the Church.” This is because in Christianity “love” is defined by status quo, so to be a good Christian each one must fashion their “love” according to the values of a core group or denomination. In recent times, many good, God-fearing Christians have become ashamed to even be called “Christians” after being attacked by so many Christians for keeping the Commandments. Many opt instead to be labeled as “Believers” because they realize that love requires sacrifice, and that love is not a cerebral ideology that neglects the Commandments.
Wouldn’t you agree that the contract we’ve entered into with our Saviour is important? Do you also believe that He would hold up His obligations outlined in the contract? How important is it to you to hold up your end?
Jesus is about His Father’s (our God’s) work. Jesus makes no unreasonable requests. Jesus makes no unnecessary requests. Help me Messiah to better understand and keep my end of our contract. ~Shalom
M. Hirsch Goldberg in his book The Jewish Connection states: ” The Star of David is not of Jewish origin – and the ancient Israelites never used it as their religious symbol” (they used the Menorah or Seven Candlestick). So, why did the six-pointed star become known as the Jewish star? This symbol was widely adopted, not because the Jewish people chose it, but ironically because Adolph Hitler forced all Jews to wear a yellow six-pointed star during the holocaust. The word holocaust means burnt offering, and the six-pointed star was used in the past when burnt human sacrifices were offered to Moloch and Ashtoreth in Baal worship. The few Jews who had anything to do with the Six-Pointed star (hexagram) were those who were involved in occult practices. Back to Hitler, would he put anything good on a Jew? Hitler meant to insult and destroy the Jews, and being wrapped up in the occult (read the book, The Nazis and the Occult), he may have meant the Jews to be his burnt offering for power. Today, most Jews wear this star by choice, and without thinking or checking out its origin and usage through time. Wearing the six-pointed star became a fashion.
The first mention of the six-pointed star in Israelite literature was in Amos 5:6, when YAWEH angrily tells His people that ” I hate and despise your feast days…. You shall take up Siccuth, your king and Chiun your images, the star of your God….” Siccuth (Sakkuth) and Chiun (Kaiwan) means “star” and refers to Saturn as a star, and was objects of idolatrous worship, as they were considered to be Assyrian gods. The mixed multitude that went out of Egypt with the children of Israel took the star with them. Like the obelisk, the six-pointed star was an Egyptian idol used in idolatrous worship. In 922 B.C. when Solomon married the daughter of Pharoah, he became involved in Egyptian idol worship and went into magic, and witchcraft. Solomon built an altar to Ashtoreth and Moloch, and the six-pointed star, the chief symbol of human sacrifices in magic and witchcraft circles, came to be called the Seal of Solomon.
Solomon did not heed the subsequent warnings from God to cease from these abominable practices, even after God threatened to rend the Kingdom of Israel from his son’s hand. And indeed, the split occurred after Solomon’s death. Solomon’s idolatry caused the Kingdom of Israel to be split in two. The practices he introduced to the children of Israel eventually caused the House of Israel to go into exile into the Caucasus, and the House of Judah to go into captivity. It was Josiah who later destroyed this forbidden altar. Did you know that the number 666 was connected to Solomon? (1 Kings 10:14) Yes, 666 talents of gold was sent to Solomon each month by none other than the King of Tyrus. After you have read this account in the book of 1 Kings, turn to Ezekiel Chapter 28. Oh, what a tangled web was weaved, when Solomon practised to deceive. King Solomon left many articles which proved his blatant idolatry, such as King Solomon’s Mirror, King Solomon’s Comb, and the six-pointed star, which became known as the Seal of Solomon in the witchcraft and occult world. Solomon also laid down the foundations of the Craft (Daniel 8:25) which later became known as Freemasonry., and the six-pointed star features prominently in Masonic rituals.
King David was Solomon’s father, but he was never an idolater. He made it absolutely clear that God Himself was his shield, not only in Psalm 3:3 but in Psalm 28:7, Psalm 119:114, and Psalm 144:2.
We’re coming up on my favorite time of year… Spring. And it’s become even more special and exciting to me especially since I’ve been saved and since I’ve learned so much about this time of year historically and biblically. If you are like me, early in your Christian walk, you may have struggled (as I did) with Easter and what the bible teaches regarding Jesus and the Passion of Christ. I would encourage you to study and trust the word. His word is power and His Spirit. Trust in it.

As Christians, (those who believe in Yashua Ha Mashiach, Jesus the Christ) we serve the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The one true God, the God of Israel, Jehovah Jireh!
Today I heard of a person proclaiming a “new teaching” that when they go to a place where “negative energies” exist… just picture yourself surrounded by mirrors that will protect you and reflect the negative energy away.
Several problems here:
- This is in no way a new teaching. This is called Circle of Mirrors in pagan teaching of self empowerment. New age is not new at all. This is another version of the original lie Satan told in the garden. Satan would have us serve him and believe in his lie that we should surely not die.
- So as a reflector of negative energies… doesn’t that make you toxic? Reflecting off negative energies? That doesn’t sound at all like my God of creation.
- The “negative energies”… Sounds like the people teaching this would know something about energy mechanics right? Wrong- one of the fundamental understandings of energy is that opposites attract. It is not that man can even answer why that is… but it is a fact.
This is a horrible, selfish, self-centered teaching… we are protected and given life by a mighty creator God who when we surrender to His will and become His child, He gives us life EVERLASTING. We do not need mirrors and trickery. We are not to be reflecting negative energy… we destroy sin with obedience. We slay the negative with our loving kindness… we forgive 70 times 7, we love and pray without ceasing. We magnify and are reflections of His grace and glory and there are no smoke and mirrors involved. We are LIVING sacrifices… putting others before ourselves in every situation. Unafraid of the enemy sin and all things… the only thing worthy of our fear, respect, loyalty and obedience is God.
Again, “new age” is nothing new… at times it may look inviting, just like the fruit of the forbidden tree was. Don’t fall for it. My biggest concern is that people understand the choices they make when deciding whom they serve. As for me and my house, we will serve the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and recognize that I am purchased and am owned by my Savior Yashua Ha Mashiach and look to only Him for my salvation. ~Amen
How can I be so proud and arrogant? All my life, I’ve done exactly what I’ve wanted to do. I’ve done exactly what has benefited me the most. I’ve done exactly what I’ve wanted to do to make me feel good. I’ve spent way too much doing my own will, making my own way, and to what end? Unless I stop and start serving my Savior, no matter what I do in His name, He will not know me and I will not be in His book of life.
I must start right now to serve Him and do His will. This is a season where man has made a holiday… but He has Holy days. Days He has set aside as Holy. To honor Him, I am going to recognize His days and His will and not the will of man. How can there be honor to Him in my holidays while I ignore and write-off His Holy days? I must trust Him and have absolute faith in Him and that His grace is sufficient. Lord God, make me less proud of myself, less arrogant and more serving of You. Help me to prioritize my life:
- Serve God completely and in everything I do…
- Serve everyone else in His love…
